Cuenca property values have risen steadily over  the past six to seven years, bucking the down-trend in the U.S. and much of the rest of the world, including many Latin American countries. Annual real estate appreciation is running 8% to 12%, according to local agents. Cuenca is Home to World Class OrchidsOrchid

Situated on the Cuenca side of the city, Ecuagenera was founded in the 1950s by Angel Andreetta, an Italian-born priest who arrived to set up a Salesian mission. As a hobby, he began researching and collecting orchid species he found in the area.
